Once your Amazon Profile has been updated and you are ready to start getting free products to review, be sure to check out my growing list of Amazon Review Sites for Free Products. Signing up for even just some of these will ensure you are busy with more review request emails than you ever though possible.
Instead of sending the product, you can ask the reviewer if they will accept an Amazon. Gift card via email for the purchase price. That way they are a verified buyer. Don’t do this in bulk unless you are Richie Rich.
Not only are the reviews syntactically bizarre, many of them appear to be written about phone chargers, not headphone dongles. This latter problem Amazon attributed to a technical error — different color options for the product were actually different products entirely — but if it’s an error, it’s a widespread one. As of this writing, these two-in-one Lightning splitter from eurHpandray had much the same problem: hundreds of five-star reviews, none of them verified purchases, with many listing different “color” options that are also seemingly for different products. In effect, this means that anyone who doesn’t spend inordinate amounts of time examining reviews would come away with the impression that the individual product had hundreds of positive reviews.
While Vine members used to receive a monthly newsletter featuring books and other products they chose from to review — with products valued at anywhere from a few dollars to close to $1,000 — they now have access to a rolling list of items they can order at any time. According to NPR, Vine members cannot sell or give items received through the program away and Amazon can ask for the items back — although they don’t appear to do that.
Amazon tracks gift cards and promo codes now, which means his product review will not show up anyway. You wont get banned, you just wont get the review, especially since they added the fact it was incentivized.

I tried this with some success, but only got 10% or less who actually reviewed the book. For the most part, it was a successful effort as I got realistic reviews and many people did like the book. BUT, there are some wild and crazy folks out there who do things like complain that on page ten you used the word rouge and they don’t like that word. Or who find two grammar mistakes and claim it makes the book unreadable and so they give you a 2 star review. That’s okay, because that is the person’s honest opinion, but I finally got tired of these folks, and of the folks who took a free copy and then had not reviewed the book six months later. I am going to give up on this self-publishing thing, though I admit it has been fun.
I am a BzzAgent, and it took about a month before I got anything to try even after filling out what seemed like a hundred surveys. Now, I am bombarded with products and having a blast. Please hang in. I almost gave up on them, but I’m glad I didn’t.
As of now, the Echo is available in the US, Germany and the UK. One of the challenges in launching the Echo in a range of countries is making sure Alexa understands different accents and knows when words are used in different contexts.
Unlike Amazon’s in-house Vine review program that is invitation only, anybody can apply to become a shopper on these Amazon review sites. If you like trying out products and leaving honest feedback, you are an excellent candidate for reviewing products sold on Amazon.
Tomoson – Connects you with companies that want their products reviewed in multiple places (Amazon, personal blogs, etc). You apply and if you’re accepted, you get the product free shipped through Amazon.
Trek to Teach is a nonprofit organization that sends fluent English speakers to teach in Nepal near the Himalayas. In addition to teaching, Trek to Teach strengthens local communities by helping schools build infrastructure, paint their classrooms, and find furniture.
For Bad Amazon Product Reviews: Responding publically may add further damage, especially if others take the side of the reviewer. Look forward to burying this negative review with new positive ones. Amazon will remove a review in specific cases like those involving privacy violations or obscene language, but these situations aren’t common.
The problem is that AmzRC does not give you any control over who snags your coupons. One person can grab a lot of them and then resell them. This is theft and a double whammy. Once you lose money when you sell your products heavily discounted and you lose again when he steals your customers with your own free or discounted product.
Hey Shannon! I would say, always complete the surveys the survey panels will send you to your email box. Some surveys will end up being a product test for you to do at home. Some people get a lot of products to test and some do not, it all depends on what the company is looking for to review their products.
But unlike Siri, which is still secondary to touch as a means of with iOS devices, Alexa is essentially all the Echo has. It was critical for Amazon to get her right — thankfully, she delivers (and yes, calling Alexa “she” feels more correct than calling Alexa “it,” a testament to how personable she is).
I mostly agree, but I’ve been on Amazon since 1996 and don’t think I’ve ever received an invite. It’s possible that I received an invite when Vine debut, but turned it down because I was too busy at the time and just never received another one. Regardless, I’ve purchased a lot on Amazon and have written reviews for almost everything, simply because I believe reviews are important to online shopping, but I’ve waited for a Vine invite for years without receiving one.
If Amazon actually made it as easy to post reviews about the shipping and purchase process as for products themselves, then I would believe they actually care about that. But they don’t because they don’t want their own problems highlighted. It’s not as if this was unintentional; Bezos’ “Iron Rule” is not that ignorant.
The bottomline is the introduction of bias and this lengthy response confirms that for me. I appreciate an emotional reaction to a product because #human so bashing those out of hand further emphasizes a departure from what a regular reader is looking for in the Amazon reviews. I greatly value review authors who employ a more systematic approach but my personal feeling is that a review made by a person looking for a specific product for their use and then buying it with their own money will always be more valuable to me than a review created after getting the product free. When I want those types of reviews, I visit a site like the wirecutter outside of the Amazon reviews environment so I have some context for where the bias is coming from. I loved this article for taking these reviews to task!! Thank you!!
They’re looking for bloggers, website owners, online publishers, journalists, YouTubers, Amazon reviewers (Vine), Yelpers, podcast show hosts, and other reviewers worldwide. They fill out our easy Product Offer Form (HERE). Then we publish their requests for reviews in our free email newsletters.
Missed that. I’m glad FakeSpot is using that investigation technique. I find it just as effective as checking the product’s review dates. To me, they go hand in hand. Unfortunately TheWireCutter neglects to mention that method in their “How We Spot a Phony Review”.
