Better Discounts isn’t exclusive to Amazon products, but, you can be emailed promotional codes for Amazon when they become available. This can also be a good way to find discounts to other online retailers as well since not every good online deal is always found at Amazon.

CR helped to mobilize support in Congress to create the CFPB, an independent agency responsible for overseeing the financial industry with powers to police abusive practices and to enact new consumer protections.
Last May I bought the SB6141. It had 4 stars on Comcast’s old device list and was the # 1 pick here. Its been flawless until about 7 weeks ago. Latency has increased and speeds have slowed down. I just spoke with Comcast they say they’ve EOL’d support for this modem (see here: http://i.imgur.com/8fzh4Gc.png).
Knowing that, you can expect that background checks are minimal or (most likely) completely non-existent. BUT, if any manufacturer sends out a bunch of product and gets an abysmal response of people writing reviews, you can expect that the next time that manufacturer will likely do some more checks first.
I have joined and had success with a few of these except EDC Elite Deal Club,, things were ok then I was asked to review products I had not asked for, the customer service was beyond dire. They are now asking for your financial information,,, be aware people- you pay via Amazon not these sites,,, Elite Deal Club has no reason to demand you personal financial information- leave well alone.
While some sites are better than others, I still look at all of them on a daily basis every morning. Have any other questions or comments? Leave them below. Thanks again for reading and happy frugaling!
Do you think this is okay for me to say? I don’t want to blow my first shot at a review, but I don’t want to commit to misleading anyone either. Fortunately, the product has a bunch of good reviews as of now, and it’s inexpensive. So for the price, I’m sure there will be redeeming qualities. But still….
Get on the same sites as your customers. Being social and accessible is the best way to get honest feedback. Make your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts easily accessible from your store so customers can reach out with comments and questions. If you have a brick-and-mortar business, like Milk + Honey Spa, you’ll also want to have a profile on Yelp and Google Places.
I just read through the squidoo article. Now that I think of it… I did do a survey on BzzAgent that asked me about my child playing with Transformers but I didn’t qualify because he’s a one year old. I also did 2 surveys on Smiley360 one of which asked if I had a dog and I don’t so I didn’t qualify so I think that was the Greenies test product and the other one at the end said I qualified to test Oxyclean 2in1 Stain Fighter. I think I’m starting to understand how these panels work! I’ll just continue to fill out my surveys!
I bought Ariely’s book because Frank, the producer for my business makeover segments on MSNBC’s Your Business, suggested it while we were chomping down some sushi. I think he mentioned the title once while he reached for a piece of toro. We didn’t discuss it further, but it was just enough of a trigger that the next time I was on Amazon I looked up the title. That’s when the 463 reviews convinced me to buy it, over all the alternatives.
This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that’s when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to ‘howl at the moon’ from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn’t have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn’t settle for the first thing that comes to him.
As the name implies, the focus is on Toilet Tree products. At the point of writing, they claim that their membership number is adequate and not looking out for more. But they use to recruit new members on weekly basis. So just fill out the form and they will get in touch if they see you as a good addition to their pool of members.
I had contacted them directly to review several of their products so I don’t want to hurt the relationship but their request was just unethical. I explained that and their response was an apology and that they understand the ethical concerns. That was that.
How do I know they are fake you ask… Easy, look at the other products that the person has reviewed, there usually are not any, but when they are they are all from the same seller. Another way is that someone will have like 50 reviews in a 2 day period, but then no other positive reviews, ever. Another way, You will see a reviewer review different products with different descriptions about who they are (e.g., “I am a professional plumber so…”, “As a professional photographer, I think…”, “As a large man, I found…”, “As a single mother…” all from the same person). Another indicator is when they use the same broken English in multiple 5 star reviews or misspell the exact same word the same way under different names (no verified purchase, of course). Of course, none of these are 100% guarantees they are fake, but once you start looking for them, it becomes obvious.

These days, almost any “generic” item that you buy is sold from an (often Chinese) drop-shipper who invents a company name on the fly. Usually that company name is just two completely random words joined together, in order to avoid trademark infringement. E.g. “CoolPow” or “Flying Show”. Heck, I’ve even seen drop-shippers get lazy and use names like “abcGOOdef”. Seriously?
Chattykathy16, I’m not sure how much Amazon is still promoting the Vine Review program. I haven’t received a listening of books from them in over five months. I do know that in order to be considered for the program that you have to write lots of product reviews for the site.
The purpose of the Amzrc Amazon product review service is not just to make profit. The concept was inspired by the desire to help people, who need their first push to success. We know, that buyers can be reluctant to buy products from a new seller, this is why they need some encouragement. We are ready to provide it!
This is easy: don’t review 10 eye liners unless you want to asked to review a new eye liner. If you review only XBox games, then I would expect only XBox games companies to ask you to review their games. Your reviews are a portfolio of your interests, and expect suppliers to treat them that way.
Good points Anupam, faking testimonials are never worth it! Even if you have to give away a couple products to bloggers friends, it’s worth it to get real reviews. In addition to sounding genuine, they could give you invaluable feedback for perfecting your product and even improving your shopping experience.
As for your 80 product reviews…don’t sweat it! I have heard of people getting asked after 3 reviews. It is sort of a crap shoot based on the products you have reviewed. Sellers look through competitor’s products for recent reviews and clicks on the reviewer’s names to see if their Profile has an email address. The products/categories you reviewed may not be searched for right now, or your reviews may be under dozens of other more recent reviews, or a multitude of reasons. Keep at it—and make sure your profile is complete with email address—I’m certain that you will start to get more Sellers contacting you directly.
But most important, receiving something for free or nearly free can greatly affect one’s opinions. You might notice how few of the reviews through Vine and similar programs are negative or even critical. This isn’t a case of reviewers intentionally being dishonest, but rather the result of unconscious positive bias. Not paying for an item can make difficulties with that item seem less irritating.
