These days, almost any “generic” item that you buy is sold from an (often Chinese) drop-shipper who invents a company name on the fly. Usually that company name is just two completely random words joined together, in order to avoid trademark infringement. E.g. “CoolPow” or “Flying Show”. Heck, I’ve even seen drop-shippers get lazy and use names like “abcGOOdef”. Seriously?
I finally remembered to respond to this! I just wrote this email to a Seller. They reached out to me with something I wasn’t interested in, so I found an item in their store I was interested in reviewing (and had a need for.) The URL to the product has been redacted, but you get the point.
What the system needs is a removal of ranking of reviewers and the helpful/unhelpful systems moving the reviewers around on the page (they should all be chronological and sortable by stars). Honestly, I see absolutely no reason to rank reviewers and create a competitive environment. This is about the products, not the people reviewing them, and I say that as a top 1000 reviewer.
very interesting article. I have a quick question. I have sold some of my products on Amazon. I have done small tweaks to the design (which does not change the performance of the product). Because I have a new code with Amazon, I have lost all the reviews of my old products. Is there any way that review can be transferred?
By Vangie Beal In electronic commerce, product reviews are used on shopping sites to give customers an opportunity to rate and comment on products they have purchased, right on the product page. Other consumers can read these when making a purchase decision. Often, the company will include a URL on printed literature or e-mail marketing to invite customers to review their service after a transaction has been completed.

I have joined and had success with a few of these except EDC Elite Deal Club,, things were ok then I was asked to review products I had not asked for, the customer service was beyond dire. They are now asking for your financial information,,, be aware people- you pay via Amazon not these sites,,, Elite Deal Club has no reason to demand you personal financial information- leave well alone.
The site is in German. They have a large marketplace of products with a category filter to help you sort through it. Products ranging from electronics to apparel, household goods and much more. Available for reviewers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
AMZRC has wider inventory than most because their seller fees are lower. The savings are passed onto you, the shopper, with more coupon codes. This means more people can try out a single product and there are more discounted and free products to choose from!
Wonderful blog, thank you so much for sharing all of this great information! Hope you didn’t mind me jumping in and replying to some of the user questions. Sometimes I just can’t help myself, it is like an addiction. 🙂
Yes, you should get a Prime account, especially if you plan on products from companies via the Amazon ordering system and don’t want to pay for shipping. You can sign up here: http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Prime-One-Year-Membership/dp/B00DBYBNEE
Thanks for that. When you first join you can only get one item at a time, but as you get some reviews under your belt, you’ll be able to get more products at once and that’s when that sliding scale starts.
Experienced sellers understand the importance of tracking product reviews. Studies have shown that buyers pay close attention to what other people have to say about the quality of an item. Additionally, Amazon uses product reviews in its algorithm for determining which items appear first in search results.
#5) I Love To Review is now Deal Hustl. You get redirected to that site. Page one asks for your first name and email. After you give them that, you get another page where you have to supply your full name and phone number. Seems scammy. Why do they need my phone number? Anyways, just wanted to give a heads up.
I have never bought a single product on Amazon that didn’t have a review, and I am sure I am not alone. Most people use Amazon reviews as one of their main tools for considering whether to buy a product or not.
I stumbled across this blog about 6 months ago and it inspired me to push myself to write as many reviews as possible, with the aim of climbing the Amazon reviewer rankings and becoming one of Amazons top reviewers.

Do you regularly write reviews on Amazon? Are you a Vine member? Can you share any tips or tricks on how to get invited into the program? What has Amazon sent you to review? Let us know in the comments.
Reviewing is a time-intensive process – writing a review report can be almost as much work as writing a manuscript! – but it is very worthwhile for the reviewer as well as for the community. Reviewers:

Better Discounts isn’t exclusive to Amazon products, but, you can be emailed promotional codes for Amazon when they become available. This can also be a good way to find discounts to other online retailers as well since not every good online deal is always found at Amazon.
Also, a lot of Vine and top reviewers DO update reviews. We don’t have to, but we do. I spent about 16 hours last week updating reviews from 2002 on, saying what was still great, and what wasn’t, or noting problems that arose, and trying to delete reviews on items no longer offered, least the seller stick something else on that listing that my review wasn’t relevant to. I love to see updates when I am shopping- I see them fairly frequently, but I buy about EVERYTHING from Amazon, except fresh food.
To my eyes, Amazon could make its reviews more reliable in several ways. For one easy thing, it could weight reviews from verified purchases more heavily in its system — if every positive review of a product isn’t a verified purchase, while every negative review is a verified purchase, that should have a much larger impact on the displayed average score. Amazon says it’s reducing the number of unverified-purchase reviews an individual account can leave per week; this is a helpful step forward, but more can and should be done.
This tank R-O-C-K-S! Literally- the 400-watt sound-system keeps me rockin like a crazy man as I’m dishing out justice commando style. Wow. I just can’t say enough. And the kids love it, too- imagine the look of terror in the eyes of the enemy as I’m dropping off my kid’s team to their soccer game. Shock and awe, my friends, SHOCK AND AWE!
One of the reasons why Amazon is such a popular online destination is that many products are accompanied by hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of product reviews from everyday consumers who can speak with first-hand authority to the merits of whatever item is being considered. As a result, consumers are able to make more informed shopping decisions and steer clear of items they might ultimately regret purchasing. Of course, with the Internet being what it is, Amazon’s vast library of product reviews are also filled with a good number of sarcastic, biting, clever, and downright hilarious responses. Some even speculate that these reviews may be responsible for Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ distinctive laugh.
When a Seller does has a big ticket item up for review, they get pretty selective about who they want to review it. They want a great, well-written 5-star review, so they are likely looking at the recent reviews on their competitors’ products that are 5-star and well-written (as explained in this how-to for Sellers). This helps boost their chances of getting the same.
Review.Directory is another review site that allows you to sample free products and share your reviews on Amazon or other social media channels. You will be emailed promotions from a campaign director. This can also be a good option for bloggers as some sellers are also wanting to run giveaways. In addition to reviewing the product yourself, you can potentially get paid to help others enjoy the product.
It is in Amazon’s best interest for products to have positive reviews – this builds faith in the Amazon Marketplace (makes people feel good about any potential purchase) and encourages sellers to pay for amazon shill services, (VINE) much like YELP extorts local business owners.
Hey Natasha! On this post, I provided a list of companies you can sign up with free to start product testing and also earning money from it. Just click the links, and then sign up. Surveys will be sent to your email box.
I tried Uberzon club however after attempting to purchase at least 30 offers I have yet to get a single one to accept the promo-code provided in the emailed offer. I am informed each time that the code is invalid. This is true even when attempting to purchase immediately after receiving the email, therefore not caused by the limit of available offers having been filled. It’s a bit disappointing as I thought the club was a really great way to try out new products. I’ll try a few more of these, thanks to your amazing list. Hoping I’ll find one that is what it claims. Thanks for the info!
