In a blog post, Amazon said it’s improving its review ratings by introducing an algorithm that gives weight to reviews that are more helpful. It said it’s also suspending, banning or suing “thousands of individuals for attempting to manipulate reviews.”
Sounds about right (par for the course). Get an listed telephone number and then use the old one solely as an Amazon dedicated line, if the additional expense isn’t prohibitive. Also, naturally, now the vendor will start retaliating by “negging” your other reviews (happens all the time).
When asking for reviews, make sure you’re asking the right questions. You don’t just want to know if your customers liked the product. You want to know how they’re using it (explanation, photo, video), who they’d recommend it to, and if the product has changed something in their life.
Yeah, I too have noticed that lately the lists I am signed up for run out of product at a much faster rate than before. I can’t complain since I am running and promoting a site with a main purpose to open up the review-in-exchange practice to many more people.
Hi I got an email yesterday offering me a coupon code to get their product to review it. I checked the code in amazon and yes is legit and I should get the product for free. I’m not part of the vine program (haven’t been asked) and this is the first time I get an email from a vendor from amazon asking me to review their product. So my question is, is it normail that they ask me to share with them my order number? I have the item ready in my card with their provided cupón applied and all but I haven’t “bought” it because the next step would’ve to email them and tell them my order number… is that safe and normal? Thanks!
Write your message. You can say something like “Hi, my name is XXXX. I really enjoy doing product reviews for seller’s and I would be happy to provide an honest review in exchange for a free product. Here’s a link to my Amazon profile (your link goes here) and here are a few reviews I’ve recently done (include the permalink to the reviews, if you have any).”
3. Request Amazon reviews via newsletter and social media. Chances are, the folks subscribed to your newsletter and your fans on Facebook already like you, so why not ask them for reviews? There’s a decent chance they’ve already bought a product from you, so they can provide legitimate, positive Amazon customer reviews. True. Being able to contact a Seller directly without having bought from them first—or they having reached out to you to review—makes it much more difficult. For larger name brands that have websites, a simple Google search might suffice. But what about the smaller Sellers? I don’t have an answer there. At one time I used to see a “Contact Seller” button on some product detail pages. I’m not seeing that anymore.

Thanks for sharing your story. I have to say that I am surprised a 300-level reviewer isn’t getting bowled over by offers. I am at 1633 right now and I get at least one offer a day, sometimes up to 6-7 offers a day. I estimate I reject about 80% of them for numerous reasons.
The first time you write a review, you earn $3 for it. After that, each review earns you $1.00. Reviews are rated based on their quality. There is a quality review threshold, which if your review score reaches that point, you earn an additional $10.00 on the top of what you already earn for the your reviews. The minimum required for payout is $10.00. Carrotreviews has one set back and that is the fact that you are restricted to writing only 5 reviews a month.
